Preface
In the process of publishing my book "The Dirty Little Secrets About "Cleaned" Coins" I was talking to Ron Bowels at Author House. We were talking about coin collecting. He said that he had bought a gold plated eagle from an ad in a magazine and a few years later he took it to a coin shop to see what it was worth, he was shocked. The treasure he thought, he had, was not worth what he paid for it. I realized that there are allot of non-collector, novice collector, and active collectors that just have no idea how to buy coins. I thought I would share my forty years of knowledge (mistakes) with you in this book.
When I started collecting I really had no guide to go by or anyone to help me learn how to buy coins. I learned by hard knocks, which can be very expensive and disheartening. I thought about that and realized that this is another subject on which I could share my years of experience. I am writing this book to help spare you from making some of the mistakes that many and I have made in buying coins. Chapter ten will cover the selling of coins. Most of what I will cover on buying coins will be applicable for selling.
